1)  SOA Watch East Bay announced Prison Send Off on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 8:30 am, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Berkeley.  [Sorry, got this up late, but the turn-out was great, with Dolores Huerta, Tom Bates, and other luminaries.  I provided sound, sang and song-led.  An excellent time was had by all --Daniel]
Note:  Fr. Louis Vitale will report on Oct. 16 to Nellis Federal Prison Camp near Las Vegas.

On September 23-25, Veterans Laura Slattery of Oakland and David Mezzera of Vallejo will bring their voices to the national lobbying effort in Washington, DC.  They will emphasize the importance of closing SOA/WHISC and evaluating the effect of this military training in Latin America.

4) From Violence to Wholeness: Nonviolence Action Training

        Saturday, October 19 from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm 
        Unitarian Universalist Center, 1187 Franklin (at Geary), San Francisco.
        Registration Fee: $10, includes lunch 

        A one-day nonviolence training in preparation for the annual demonstration to close the School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Georgia, on NOVEMBER 17th. 

        This experiential training will employ ritual, small group discussion, and hands-on exercises. It will focus on philosophical nonviolence (as a way of life), consensus process and this year's scenario at Fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia. Also: civil disobedience techniques, legal aspects, hopes and fears around being arrested and jail time, and participating in affinity groups.

        An intensive, in-depth exploration of nonviolence that will incorporate imagery, body movement, art materials, and reflecting on the wisdom of some who have faced violence and chosen differently.
