My statement that I am a most reluctant Christian Devotion to BVM: Tom assumed at first meeting that I had Marian devotion because I said what brought me back to the Church was a plot by the Blesséd Mother. A year and a half later he finally asked me if I had such a devotion, and I said no. There is also the fact that while 'on the way back' I asked with the Rosary for devotion to her, if it pleased her, or if not, to another Saint. I was devoted to her for a while, I think, then found the book True Devotion, but decided against that. I have liked only my own rather simple devotion, anyhow. Would Tom prefer that I tell him immediately of events such as 'seeing' the Cross? Also, re his question was the image 'alive'.
