Friends, I welcome you to this Grand Adventure, the telling of the tale, in a unique fashion, of my parents’ remarkable lives. It is a story that, I believe, should be shared with all who hunger for truth, justice and the American Way — not the America of those who would exclude a tenth of their brothers and sisters from equal treatment under the law; who would wage a Holy War against the Infidels (to borrow a word, meaning ‘nonbeliever’, from our spiritual cousins.) I speak, instead, of the American of Jefferson, which holds the respect for liberty and life to be constitutionally inviolable.
My parents led their lives with integrity, which is to say, with their belief that justice is for all, and not just the privileged few. Already pacifists from their young adulthood, they met while on a civil rights march in 1943, and never ceased in their pursuit for peace and social justice.
Their story is not for sale. You may download it for free, if you lack the means. You may, however, make a donation, with the understanding that I make my living with my music, which is an integral part of the book, that I have invested a great deal of time in the project, and that maintaining a Website and Internet connectivity costs money.
If you can only give two or three dollars, that is fine. If you can be more generous, that would be finer. If you wish to perform any of my music, you may, with my blessing, so long as it is done in the spirit of sharing, in affirmation of life. If it is a commercial venture, or your budget will allow for a contribution to my livelihood, you may share as you are able.
But, again, if your means are as limited as mine have been from time to time, you will not be denied for lack of ability to pay. In an earlier incarnation of my business card, it said, “Sharing is the Essence.” I still believe that, still, after all these years.
REMEMBER, “Legacy” is a data disk, and not a CD. It will not play in your CD player, but only in your computer, and from the Webpages contained therein.
So, please, enjoy, with my blessing. And please tell your family, colleagues and friends about my project adventure. If you are with an organization, mention “Legacy” in your newsletter.
