About Tony ...

Since dedicating himself full-time to his musical passion last year, Tony Mayfield has recorded and performed at venues throughout Southern California, including The Roxie. After last year’s funk reunion with the Ice Man Jerry Butler (The Impressions) at the Garcia family celebration of Jerry’s birthday, Mayfield happily came to the SF Bay Area to deliver an on-fire Berkeley performance with P-nut and Friends, including special guest keyboardist John “JoJo” Hermann (Widespread Panic) after Panic’s Greek Theater Friday show. Recording for the next few months in the SF Bay Area, Mayfield loves Berkeley and after bringing down the house at Blake’s with local guitarist Sep Valizadeh, plans on playing live as much as possible.

Tony Mayfield can play any rhythm. He creates music as he goes, and whether on stage solo or with talented friends, Mayfield’s hands bring to life the intimate and strong relationship with spirit that keeps him going. And going. And going. Mayfield’s stamina and energy combine with his talent to deliver the kind of performance that takes audiences from simply groovin’ to truly experiencing and participating in sound that packs a whole lotta soul in each moment. Less that thirty seconds after Mayfield’s hands hit the drum skins, audiences suddenly find their bodies moving and their hearts opening. Mayfield can play drums with his elbows, his chin, and his tongue; more importantly, he can and does play with every ounce of his spirit and with pounds of heart. Music lovers that expect more than average from the son of a legend find themselves more than satisfied as Tony Mayfield’s hands fuse rhythms of the ancient past, the enigmatic future and the heartbeat of today. At home on stage like the natural performer and true entertainer he was born to be, Mayfield brings his audience right home with him. No music lover can deny the in-the-pocket drum beat of Tony Mayfield; luckily for the fans, Mayfield’s hands have as much stamina as his soul. With a smile that lights up the stage, hands that go faster than any Internet connection, and a soul that brings it each and every time, Tony Mayfield continues and gives new life to the Mayfield legacy of musicianship for the people. Everybodysmamma Presents stands absolutely thrilled to present the music of Tony Mayfield to the San Francisco Bay Area music scene. We know you’ll all be saying the same three words as soon as you take an opportunity to hear Tony Mayfield for yourself. Tony Mayfield rocks!
